Cadet Program Faqs

This is to help you with some common questions you may have about joining the Cadet program.

Can I join cadets if I’m not a citizen?

  • Yes. You are not required to be a citizen to join the cadet programme.

Do I need to join the military after I leave the cadets?

  • No. Military service is not required after leaving the cadet programme.

Do I get paid?

  • Yes, and No. Cadets are not paid during the school year (September – June). Cadets who attend summer training receive a training bonus during the summer. Also, senior Cadets who return to summer training as Staff Cadets are paid a daily wage and make very good money.

Do I wear CADPAT?

  • No. Cadets get issued an olive drab uniform. CADPAT is not worn by cadets.

Can I get volunteer hours?

  • No, and Yes. The programme itself does not give you hours. Cadets will have opportunities to get volunteer hours when presented. 

 How old do you have to be to join Cadets?

  • To join cadets you must be at least 12 years old and under 19 years old.
